The Oakland Public Library (in California, USA) has done something brilliant — they have gathered and curated all of the various items and writings that patrons have left in borrowed library books for an online exhibit. Whether these things are left on purpose or by accident, who can say?

For today’s prompt, explore the curated list of “found artifacts” from library books, and choose something to inspire some writing — either a story, or a journal entry, or the point of view of the object itself.

Maybe you could remix the object? Or turn it into its own book?

Or write about what you might leave, or have left, in a book you borrowed from your library …

Head to the Oakland Library online exhibit of found artifacts and start your exploration.

(PS – If you want to view all of the items and writing found, those are linked off the main library site)
