While the Daily Create chugs along for the usual crowd (I’m looking at y’all, thanks), we are encouraging participants in the July-August Mid Year Festival (MYfest) to join in the fun. Each Wednesday we will offer a specific daily create related to one of the MYFest themes. Join along, and show folks how the TDC is done!
For today, create or share an image that suggests the theme of (or the need for) “Environmental and Ecological Dignity”. What does that mean to you? Where do you see it or the need for it in your world?

For one reference see the description of Environmental Dignity from the Sustainability Directory:
Thinking about Environmental Dignity might initially seem complex, but at its heart, it connects deeply to how we simply exist in the world. It’s about the fundamental idea that a clean, healthy environment isn’t a luxury for a few, but a basic right for everyone, enabling a life lived with a sense of inherent worth and respect. This isn’t just about protecting faraway forests or endangered animals; it’s about the air we breathe right outside our door, the water we drink, and the spaces where our children play. It touches on the very feeling of safety and belonging that comes from being in a place that isn’t polluted, neglected, or degraded.
Living a life where your surroundings support, rather than diminish, your well-being is a core part of this idea. It’s reflected in the ability to step outside and feel the earth beneath your feet without fear of contamination, to gaze at a sky unmarred by smog, or to simply feel a connection to the natural world around you. This personal connection fosters a sense of place, contributing significantly to our mental and emotional health. It’s a recognition that human well-being and the health of the planet are inextricably linked, a relationship that underpins our capacity for joy and purpose.

The other day, I did some training for an upcoming volunteer day for a forest program for urban youth, and we met at the Silvio Conte National Wildlife Refuge in Western Massachusetts USA, where a 1.5 mile trail has been constructed to be completely accessible for those with disabilities AND built to have minimal impact on the environment. Such a thoughtful design and a beautiful walk for all.

@creating #tdc4905 #ds106 #MYfest25 Environmental dignity to me? My everyday act of propagating plants and trees growing right in our yard. I’m so enjoying detaching a cactus pad or ball and moving it a few feet over to start anew. And the flowers this year! More than dignified.
