Two professors (and later, colleagues in our writing project as well as co-authors of a textbook) who had an influence on my thinking about writing, learning and technology were Charlie Moran (now deceased) and Anne Herrington (now retired). Both explored the intersections of literacy and technology in openly curious and yet skeptical ways. For example, they were exploring/criticizing the prospect of machine scoring of student writing decades ago.
