The David Rumsey Map Collection, located online at the Internet Archive, is a wonderful tour of visualization and maps of all sorts. You can sort them by year or categories and more.
The collection includes over 200,000 rare 16th through 21st century maps of the entire World and parts of the Universe. 115,000 maps and related items are available online and 60,000 of those have been georeferenced.
Today, find a map in the collection that intrigues you and do something creative with it — write a story, compose a poem, make a new map, share a critique of the map.
