Search Engines have become a bit … boring and predictable, right? It’s possible that the coming AI revolution of language model algorithms and predictive engines like ChatGPT might change how we search and where (Hello, Bing? Farewell, Google?). For now, Search is not all that exciting.
You don’t often stumble upon the weird or quirky, and that’s too bad.
Check out the Marginalia Search Engine for the possibility of finding something strange and random.
As the site notes:
Remember when you used to explore the Internet, when you used to discover cool little websites made by people and it wasn’t just a bunch of low effort content mill listicles and blog spam?
So it’s (Marginalia) a search engine. It’s perhaps not the greatest at finding what you already knew was there. Instead it is designed to help you find some things you didn’t even know you were looking for.
For today’s Daily Create, either type in a phrase or topic and see what Marginalia gives you (and consider a screenshot or explain the results to us) or even better, use the Random button and see what happens after you follow a trail of results (and share your journey, too).
